Gran Remate de Libros in Mexico City: five days for book finds
If you love books but don’t want to spend a fortune on them, you should plan a visit to Gran Remate de Libros. The annual book sale will take place from July 29 to August 2, 2026 near the Monumento a la Revolución in Mexico City. Admission is free, so you will only have to pay for the editions you want to take home.
What you can find there
At the fair, publishers, distributors, and independent book projects will present their offers. Among the assortment are classic and contemporary novels, historical, cultural, and popular science publications, as well as books for children.
This is not just a place to find inexpensive books. The program also includes talks with authors and presentations of publications, although the full schedule of events will be announced separately by the organizers.
When to come
According to Time Out México, the fair will be open approximately from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. To browse the shelves comfortably, it’s better to set aside a few hours: at such sales, the most interesting finds are often hidden not in plain sight but among dozens of other books.
The option near the Monumento a la Revolución is convenient for both groups and family outings. You can come without a specific list, just stroll between the stands, and then stay for a presentation or a discussion about books.
If you have been putting off buying a new book due to the price, this event is definitely worth your attention: entry is free, the selection is wide, and the format is well-suited for a leisurely city plan. Would you go to Gran Remate de Libros for a specific book or just for the thrill of a random find?
