Did you know? · №1 — Balzac was married in Berdychiv
Honoré de Balzac and Evelina Hanska are indeed connected to Berdychiv and Verkhovnya: they got married in the Berdychiv Church of St. Barbara, and Hanska lived in the estate of Verkhovnya in the Zhytomyr region.
⚡ The wedding took place on March 14, 1850, at 7 a.m. in the Church of St. Barbara in Berdychiv.
📖 After receiving permission for marriage, the ceremony was held very early and without much fanfare: sources indicate that only close people were present at the wedding, including Evelina's daughter Anna, Gustave Olizar, and Count Georges Mniszech.
Hanska is referred to as the landowner from the village of Verkhovnya, which now belongs to the Zhytomyr region.
