The Literary and Memorial Museum of Honoré de Balzac in Verkhovnya is located in the former estate of the Hanski family in Zhytomyr region. It is dedicated to the stay of the French writer in Ukraine.
⚡ In Verkhovnya, Balzac lived in the Hanski estate from 1847 to 1850; the official materials of the museum indicate the address: village Verkhovnya, Myru Street, 10.
📖 The most famous plot is related to his long stay in Verkhovnya at the estate of Evelina Hanska: he arrived there as a fiancé, and the second time — after the wedding, seriously ill, and lived there until April 1850.
It is confirmed that Balzac visited Ukraine twice: in 1847–1848 and from the autumn of 1848 to April 1850.
