Rare 18th Century Signet Ring

In Cherkasy, you can see history not in textbooks, but simply beneath the layer of earth — and such a find is the rare 18th-century signet ring. During archaeological excavations in the city center, in the territory of Cherkasy's Podil, scientists discovered a metal ring with gilding and very schematic engraving. Archaeologists managed to recognize the biblical scene "The Judgment of Solomon" on it, which is rarely encountered in sphragistics and is usually dated to the late 17th to 18th century.

What is interesting here

This find is valuable not only for its age but also for showing the everyday life and symbolism of the urban environment of the early modern period in Cherkasy. The ring comes from the cultural layer of the late medieval-early modern city, that is, from the same historical environment that archaeologists are studying in Podil. Alongside it, other materials from this period were also recorded — ceramics, coins, and Christian burials associated with the Holy Trinity Church.

Is it worth going to see

If you love history, archaeology, or simply want to see Cherkasy not as a modern city but as a place with a deep past, then this topic is definitely worth your attention. The ring itself is a small object, but it is in such things that the living continuity of the city is best felt: from craftsmanship and faith to the daily life of its inhabitants. This is not a loud sensation, but rather a rare, very human historical detail that brings the past closer.

If you want, I can also turn this into a short announcement for the website or a more emotional newspaper note — whichever is more convenient for you?
